Mermaid End Table

It sure was an ugly end table.  And it NEEDED to have some serious lovin'.  I was told it was not worth painting and to just throw it away... but y'all know me better than that!
So I knew I never wanted the original finish to peek through any distressing... so I base coated the piece with Coastal Color's Summer Nite, a rich black.  Then I layered Turks and did some light distressing for the Summer Nite to show through.

But it just wasn't enough... so I added my mermaid... and it still wasn't enough.  I needed more interest.  I added Bennie to the drawer and kick plate... and to the artwork on the top.  And then I added the starfish drawer pull.

After a good Liquid Steel sealant to protect the paint and artwork... I am finally done with the transformation.  So much better than filling up a landfill, right?

What have you been painting?  Share with me in the comments!
